Acne & Scars Protocols

Acne is a protocol problem before it is a skin problem. Active acne responds to decongesting, while scarring requires deep tissue revision.

"It's not hormonal—it's a protocol problem."
"Moisturizers work on the surface. Scars are corrected 2mm below it."

01 / 03

Active Acne Cycle

Clogged pores, excess sebum, and bacteria create painful inflammatory breakouts and deep cysts under the surface.

Active Acne
02 / 03

Post-Acne Marks

Stubborn red (PIE) and dark brown (PIH) marks linger long after active acne heals, creating uneven tone.

Post-Acne Marks
03 / 03

Structural Scarring

Fibrous bands anchor deep inside the dermis (2mm below) pulling the skin down, creating rolling or boxcar scars.

FAQ

Questions Answered

Important info on active acne & scar treatments.

Fading active marks (PIH) can happen in a few weeks, but deep textural scars require multiple MNRF, Dermapen, or subcision sessions. Collagen remodeling takes 3 to 6 months for optimal leveling.

You may experience temporary skin purging as deep congestion is cleared from pores. This is a normal, healthy part of the resurfacing and clearing cycle.

We do not perform microneedling directly over active cystic acne to prevent spreading bacteria. We calm active lesions first using chemical peels and laser, then treat the scars.

MNRF can cause mild redness and tiny stamp marks for 24–48 hours. Chemical peels may lead to light flaking or skin peeling for 3–5 days. Your dermatologist will prescribe barrier-repair creams to speed up recovery.

We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24–48 hours after microneedling, MNRF, or deep peeling to prevent clogging micro-channels or irritating healing skin.

Yes. Textural leveling from collagen remodeling and subcision is permanent. However, preventing new active breakouts is crucial to ensure new scars do not form.
