Under-eye care starts with the cause
You may notice an under-eye shadow even after a good night’s sleep. Before choosing another product or a procedure, it helps to understand what is contributing to the appearance.
The Skinoq Under-Eye Protocol begins with that distinction. A concern that looks similar in a photograph can need a different approach in person.
What causes dark circles?
Under-eye darkness can involve pigment, visible blood vessels, the thinness of the skin or shadows created by the contour beneath the eye. More than one factor can contribute.
Colour alone is not enough to choose a treatment. The assessment considers the skin and the surrounding structure together.
What the assessment needs to clarify
Pigmentation: Is colour in the skin contributing to the concern?
Skin and vascular visibility: How much does the appearance of vessels through thin skin contribute?
Contour: Is a hollow or tear trough creating a shadow?
These are questions for assessment, not a test to diagnose yourself from a mirror. The distinction matters because improving one component may leave another unchanged.
A plan that explains the choice
At your Skinoq appointment, bring details of previous eye products and procedures. Explain when you first noticed the concern, whether it varies and what you would like to change.
At Skinoq, we connect each recommendation to the finding it is intended to address. Ask what improvement is realistic, what may remain and whether there is a reason to wait.
You should understand the purpose of a treatment before deciding to have it.
Does a hollow mean I need filler?
No. Under-eye hollowing does not establish that filler is suitable. Anatomy, swelling, skin characteristics and medical history need to be considered by a qualified clinician.
If filler is proposed, discuss the specific product, expected benefit, alternatives and risks. Bruising and swelling can occur; rare complications involving blood vessels can cause tissue damage or vision loss. The decision deserves a proper consultation.
Reviewing the result
The review interval depends on the treatment. Immediate swelling, lighting and camera angle can all affect how the area appears.
At Skinoq, the useful question is whether the care has addressed the concern identified at assessment. Discuss the remaining features before assuming another procedure is the next step.
Questions about under-eye care
Are dark circles always caused by poor sleep?
No. Sleep is only one possible influence. Pigment, skin characteristics and anatomy can also contribute.
Are dark circles and tear troughs the same?
No. A tear trough describes a contour beneath the eye. It can create shadow, but under-eye darkness can have other causes.
Can an eye cream remove the concern?
It depends on the cause and the product. A topical product cannot be assumed to address a contour-related shadow. Assessment helps set realistic expectations.
Will everyone need an injectable?
No. An injectable is not the starting assumption. The decision depends on the findings, suitability and your preferences.
When should I expect a result?
Ask for a timeline specific to the recommended care, including recovery and the appropriate review date. There is no single timeline for every under-eye concern.
